So you installed the ISO grips on your CTX? If so, which model number are they? I contacted Kuryakyn and they said they do not sell an ISO grip that will fit the CTX.

Steve

I called them ISO's because they look the same, but if I remember correctly, I actually got them via AliExpress.com. I bought them originally form my GL500 trike, but screwed up and got a second set. As it turned out with a minor modification, I was able to salvage the leftover grips to install on my CTX.

Hi SteveDCT, if you are interested JP Cycles sells the Kuryakyn ISO Grips. Model number is #6341 JP Part number
is ZZ50186, they are for 7/8 bars, and the cost is 71.99. I bought them for my CTX

I exchanged emails with Kuryakyn sales this morning and they said they don't have ISO grips for the CTX. So you bought the universal fit #6341 and they fit? Any tricks to making them fit or was it pretty easy?

Thanks.
Steve

Then it's a no-no for me. I have hand wind-deflectors attached to a bar-end weights. I like to have bar-end weights in any case...

I just installed the Kinetic grips on Tuesday. They are about the same size as the overall length of the OEM grips including the bar end weights, so you would probably have no problem adding your hand guards to the new grips. I did not reuse the bar end weights. You really dont need them with these grips. I find the wider width and better cushioning of these grips even without the bar end weighs, makes the bike feel smoother, and allows my hand to relax more on the grips. Over all a much better experience...

The bar end weights reduce felt handlebar vibration and help make turning the handlebars easier because it requires less force. With the CTX, Honda got it right and the balance is just about perfect. As to installing larger, more comfortable grips and doing away with the bar weights, its always going to be a trade off. Some will like and prefer the extra comfort over the benefits of having the bar weights. Others may not or not even realize the fact that they may experience more vibration or wear out quicker because hey have to exert more force on the handlebars since the amount may be too small to notice immediately.

SteveDCT, yes they are a universal fit #6341 and they fit. The bars are 7/8's and the grips are 7/8's.
The only thing you have to do is that when you take off the OEM grip on the throttle side, you have to
sand down the plastic, which has raised ridges. I believe there is an excellent video on this forum, or photos at the least of this modification. Just search Kuryakyn Grip installation. They are great grips!

Be careful when dealing with the OEM throttle tube. The raised edges are sharp and the grip holders are pointy. It will feel like your messing with rolled barb wire on a bare hand if your not careful. I advise using a leather yard glove until you can smooth it down.
