Since most of my riding to work involves riding in khaki's I get major pant leg roll-up!!!

Last year at AIM Expo I met the owner/designer of Rider Clips. I bought a pair and I like them...but depending on what shoes I wear the alligator clips sometimes pop open. Also, when ya walk around it sounds like you have a pair of spurs on! And...they are $20 a pair. They clip to your shoe lace and your pant leg.

So, after searching the internet and cycle shops I found these:

You can get these cheapest on ebay for $10 but most cycle shops are selling them for $20. These clip to each side of your pant leg and the elastic goes underneath your boot. First, the clips on these things are amazingly strong! The problem is that the elastic can get brittle and lose it's elasticity. Also, there's a push-type buckle that adjusts the length. Problem is that this buckle either gets under your boot or pops open relatively easily. Since I like these clips I will try to get some strong velcro straps to use the clips with. Walmart sells weak velcro so I'll have to try a craft store this week.

In the meantime...I went to Home Depot and bought a couple of these little clips, twisted the ends inwards (like teeth), made the holes in the clips a little larger, bought a pack of Walmart tiny bungee cords, undid the hog clamps (you really need 2 pairs of needle-nose pliers for this, unless you have your own extra hog clamps...which they DON'T sell at Home Depot), put a key ring through the bungee, re-hog clamped the bungee together, put the clips on the key ring and...wahlah!!! Cheap, over-the-boot, pant leg stirrups!!!

Cost:

Clips - $.37 a piece
Bungee pack of 4 at Walmart - $1.48
Key rings - free as I'm sure you can find a million of these around the house!

Total Cost - $2.22 + tax!

***And I really like how strong the clips are AND that they are easy slip-overs. I rode around with them today and they work great. I didn't even notice they were on.

There are many possible ways you can do this. You can use bed sheet strap for stirrups too. A velcro strap, two tarp clips together, two aligator clips etc. the possiblities are endless.

I personaly use to use just the single mini bungee like yours and connected them into eyelets on my rain suit pants before the pants got destroyed. I don't use any straps anymore, my rain suit has them in it. I also wear a long boot cut pants with cowboy boots, I will never need any.

You can get these for $5 shipped and be done with it, with two sets and not looking ghetto or any crafting involved.

These are the straps I got......Biker Boot Straps - Motorcycle Boot Strap - Accessories We got them at the Progressive Motorcycle Show a couple years ago. They have a rubber strap that goes under the boot. I have both the short and long length so I can swap out the clip depending on my pants. I have the shiny, sparkling winged heart and my boyfriend has the fireman ones.

I prefer the clamps as opposed to the "alligator" clips as the latter can pop open. So far my "arts and crafts" clamps hold up really well and the elastic band clamps are like a crabs pinchers...they ain't coming off without a fight!

And I like all of your ideas and current buys!
