I also have a Madstad. It makes a big difference at highway speeds. You have to play around with the angles to get the best results. And it tightens in position with knurled screws (if that's the right term, not hex head or something you tighten with a wrench). When I first put it on my bike, after about an hour I noticed the mounting screws were coming loose while riding in traffic on a road with no shoulder. Had a bad few minutes watching the screws vibrate loose and the road until I could park and tighten them up. Others here have replaced those with stainless steel hex head screws. Also, before you ask, I have the Madstad lowers and they didn't seem to make much of a difference. Although they do keep some rocks off my legs.

Plus one on what you said about the Madstad windshield and lowers. GREAT windshield that protects you in cold and rain and can be tilted into an air scoop on hot days!
The only windshield where you get to clean bugs off the rear side if you tilt it all the way back!
(I have one on my CTX1300 as well and the stupid bright LED has bugs from hundreds of yards away hustling to die on your windshield.)

I found the lowers to be of little use and let’s be honest, they are utilitarian looking so you’d assume they are all function, no form.
well.. you’d be wrong!
The lowers are both homely and underwhelming in function and I ride in any temps over freezing. Icy roads is more of a concern than temps.

Some words of advice when ordering, do some real world measurements, don’t trust Madstad’s charts 100%
They suggested a 20” tall shield for my 6ft 1” (tall from the waist up long tail T-shirt wearing) height!
I supposedly needed a 20” windshield but
I don’t like looking THROUGH a windshield, I want to look OVER the windshield.

I ended up replacing it with a 16” and it was spot on. Madstad lists the windshields in 2” increments from 12” to 22” anything over 18” you better be TALL !

ALSO, the windshields slide up and down vertically about 2 1/4” so make sure you take that into account.

(I’ve asked the Stadnick’s to add some measurement details regarding the vertical movement so you have better information to decide what height windshield to buy. I haven’t been on the website for a while so I’m not sure if they added more sizing info.

Also, you can mix the tints of their products for a unique look. I ordered a clear windshield but the darkest color for the side wings at the lower edge of the shield and for the lowers. (I was told I was the first to try that, I felt the darker wings blended in with the black windshield support they are bolted to.
And while you’re ordering they have bolts with T shaped heads for a no tools approach to windshield removal. It comes in handy to clean those bugs from both sides! (A microfiber towel wrapped around an old yard stick works for me, my Gorilla hands don’t get int
If in doubt call Madstad, they are WONDERFUL people to deal with.
Good luck.

Hello,
I just recently purchased a CTX and it does not have a windshield and want to purchase one. Can you tell me exactly which Madstad one you're referring to. Also, I am about 5 feet 6 inches tall. Any advice regarding which size I will need? I've been told that it's best to be able to see over the windshield rather than looking through it, so I'd like it sized so I can see over it. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks

Call Madstad directly, it will save you time and you’ll get the correct information.

You didn’t specify which CTX model you have.

Disregard Madstad’s use of CTX700D, the website should state the windshield fits BOTH the CTX700 & CTX700D.
When talking about windshields both models have the same fairing and use the same windshield and lowers.

The CTX700N (Naked) is a completely different windshield setup from
madstad as you’ll see on the link below.
