Hey there forum. Never been in one of these, but I’m glad it exists. So... this sweet old lady ripped me off, but I’ll get to that. I just recently started riding, something I have always wanted to learn but never had the time. Turns out I decided I was better at buying bikes then passing the riding test... I’ve been through a few now because I’m indecisive. Anyway, my little Brother is a marine at Camp Pendleton, and I told him I’d get him a bike if he re upped on another 4. He did, and he asked for a CTX 700N DCT ABS.
I find a good deal (as I tend to do), but it required me to drive 2 hours away in a uhaul to pick because the woman was more comfortable with that then me just shipping it for $200. I meet two sweet older ladies in a sketchy parking lot. They have a tiny uhaul trailer, I have a big ol box truck (because I’m excessive) with no ramp. So the three of us take hours loading the bike from one uhaul to the other. We bonded... became like family. She texted me a kitten video later that night.
The next day I’m feeling frisky and decide I’ll take her out on the non residential roads... ya know? Like a ‘Big Shot’ biker. I take it for a spin (still terrible at riding at this point), and btw it was a 2015 purchased in 2019 with less than 200 miles... smelled like a thousand empty Dasani bottles floating in that ocean and baking in the sun. Anyway. For the life of me I couldn’t figure out how to switch to automatic. So I call Honda. The guy says, is there a clutch on left side? I said of course. He said that’s not a DCT. And then he broke the news about the ABS too. So now, I decide I’m not going to send it to my bro because it’s like, “hey I want xyz”, and I’m supposed to be like “well, I’m cool spending the money, but here’s zyx cause that’s life, deal with it, you needed the governments help to learn how to beat me up...” AND I proceeded to blow up that sweet beautiful old ladies phone like she was my high school girlfriend that cheated on me again... she stopped responding. So, I put it for sale, and my pride kicked in and I bumped up the price tag to compensate for my time and the $400 uhaul I returned below E and wreaking like cigar smoke and dog. I got about a thousand “is it an automatic?”... and I stopped checking the ad, but I started riding it in the meantime... a lot. Like everyday. At first it was because Santa Monica decided to suspend the registration on my BMW X6, and we can’t seem to agree on whether or not I am going to pay $900 in parking tickets. And I took my other bike apart... because I’m new... and curious. So short story long. I love the thing. It’s rad. Not totally sold on the look though, I’m more into a traditional cruiser aesthetic. “Why look to the future when it’s all nice and safe and cozy in the past” is what I always say. So, My fellow CTX enthusiasts, I guess what I have been trying to say... the question I’ve been alluding to... the point that I am currently segue’ing into...
Anyone done any major body modifications... I can’t find any. Tear off the tank cover and drop on amother, or just go with the bare bones tank and yet smoothing it out? Anything with the headlight area? The rear fender? Anything I can risk total loss sinking my teeth into? Are we even allowed to talk about this stuff? Don’t take this down moderator... I Never expected to type this much. My time is valuable (find my ad for this bike... you’ll see).
