JFC Memorial Bracketz

I put this new thread in the "Vendors" forum to make it easy for new folks to find. There's been a lot of discussion about the development of these brackets that can be viewed on this other thread:

https://www.ctx700forum.com/forum/h...etz-design-available-grille-technologies.html

I wanted to put this thread in a logical location for newbies to know how to get to the new vendor (Grille Technologies). Their phone numbers are: 727-848-3300 or 727-233-9976. The ordering email address is [email protected]. As of September 2021, the retail price is $195.00 including shipping to wherever the US Postal Flat Rate goes. Delivery elsewhere can be arranged. The contacts at Grille Tech are Ryan or Casey Walsh.

For Full Disclosure

I thought it best to mention that I have no financial interest in this JFC Memorial Bracketz project dispite my being so heavily involved in putting it together. And when I decided to get a set for myself, I paid full price (minus the USPS shipping cost since I rode over and picked them up instead of having them boxed and mailed).

just to let you know, I ordered JFC bracketz on 1st January 2020 and recently informed, Grilltech is having problem with waterjet pump blowout ! I hope they sorted out the issues and deliver the bracketz soon. my saddlebags are waiting inside the box.

Sorry to hear that! I've been slammed with 12 hour days since November (14 hours both days this week! So no relief in sight.). So I haven't stopped by nor spoken to Ryan since the week before Christmas. I do have a drawing for a new set of arm rests I've designed and been wanting to get down to discuss it with him, so I'll see about doing that in the next few days. I can then get a feel for the situation. I do know that their Jet is huge (like it can hold 2 4x8's at once) so I wouldn't be the least surprised that a replacement pump might need to be built first and then sent down with an installer to fix (hopefully not from Asia!!)

In the meantime, if I were you, I'd let those saddlebags out of the box so they can get some exercise. :D:D:D
:nerd:
Thanks Bob for selflessness to check the situation. A couple of times already taken out of the box to see how it looks with the CTX by propping with a stool! 😁 I am an Asian anyway 😃 ✌

They should hope for an Asian, such a one they might be better able to afford, rather than a budget busting, beer drinking engineer from the Ruhr Valley (whence cometh my ancestors!)
:D
Today is shot already for me, I try to get up there tomorrow.

Any luck Bob, haven't heard from Ryan still.

Sorry, there's been no improvement in my situation and except for Church on Sunday I haven't left the house in 10 days. Maybe I can get it done today (and sneak a much needed haircut as well), but if not I'll see if I can squeeze in a call.

Okay, snuck out and got my hair cut and laid my eyes & hands on the dozen JFC Memorial Bracketz over at Ryan's Grille Tech that just came thru the door from the computer bending shop. Apparently yours is the oldest of the 3 or 4 orders committed out of this latest run. Powder coating prep, spray and oven baking only remains before packing & shipment. These last steps are all in-house procedures which Ryan hopes to have done by Friday.

I haven't visited the forum in a while. Sorry to hear John passed away. I bought my brackets from him and got to exchange some messages with him. He seemed like a very nice guy judging from his posts and the respectful way he approached people, including myself. He will be missed.
just a head-up on the new bracketz; I have received the bracketz and installed on my CTX700N, but the bending is not vertical, it is bended too much inside towards the tyres. I had to improvise to make the saddlebags vertical. a bit unsightly but I can live with it.

What is that other bracket under the JFC bracket? I would suspect it would line up better if the assembly order was reversed...
That is the backseat bracket, and it must be mounted this way. A check of the bend angle should be done. It looks way off. The original jfc brackets were about 114 degrees. Maybe it's a photographic illusion, but is there another bend near the mounting holes? A Bob Witte investigation ?;)
Looks like there is only one bend to the bracket; there is a reflection/shadow of the saddle bag near the mounting holes that could be interpreted as an additional bend. Not sure the JFC bracket is mounted flush to the backseat bracket (may just be the camera angle though).... can we get a photo directly from the rear that shows the mating surfaces on end?

explorecaves, there is only one bend, I have tried installing it without the mutazu backrest bracket also as shown but it is the same, there is only one way to install the jfc bracketz, on top only not reversed.

Professor*76, here is better view angle of the bracketz, I have not measured it but from the look it is around 100 degrees, I maybe wrong.

Thanks for this photo @CTX700NQ, I think this shows the problem. Placing a protractor on the pic, as imprecise as that is, I measure the bend angle at about 104 degrees. If it were 115 degrees it would be perfectly vertical. (Somebody please read that angle to verify this). You might contact GrilleTech to see what the designed bend angle is. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I recall Bob Witte posting that the design would be 115 degrees. They may be willing to replace them if they don't meet their spec.

See post 45 in this thread:

Thanks for the heads up here. I think several orders are right behind yours.

Knowledgeable members please chime in here.

@CTX700NQ I've had the Flu for the last 12 days or so and haven't been up on things. As I remember 114 degrees should have been the final number. Can you measure yours to confirm what you have? If you have a smartphone, there are apps you can download to get the measurment right.

I'm not yet well enough to go out and about, but I'll call Ryan today to get him involved.

BTW, is there anybody else who got their Bracketz since Jan 1st who had a similar problem?
