Just brought my new to me ctx 700 home. Trailored it home, put a heater under it for a couple of hours, fired it up and took it for a ride, Its the automatic model. Ive been riding larger bikes for many years now....Im 64 and wanted somthing different and easy to ride. I will admit I had a DN-01 years ago so I kind of new what I was getting. Being very cold outside I kept the ride short but wanted to take it out before i put it away for the winter. My first impressions.......the drive mode seemed like it shifted to early for my liking but the sport gear was much better. Very easy and enjoyable to ride and a nice change of pace compared to my larger bikes. I have not tried the paddle shifting mode yet. It dosent have a lot of power and is a little bit boring to ride but it put a smile on my face being out there on somthing that was much lighter and easier to ride. Overall I really liked it. It wouldnt be a bike I would buy if I could only have 1 bike but it is a great bike to have as a second bike, or in my case 6th bike! Now if I could only find a stock muffler for it! PS....you guys and gals have a very good forum here!

Welcome to the forum! Yah, the CTX700 is made for street and touring, not tearing up the pavement, but it's a nice bike nevertheless. And give it time, the DCT will adjust to your riding style and may surprise you at how responsive it is. You should be able to find all kinds of info on how to jazz up the bike in the forum. Have fun!

Hello dbyer58, and welcome to our forum. Congrats on your new toy. I guess at our age we do not need a super fast machine, just something to go places and bring lots of good times and rides. I prefer to ride it with the Sport mode since the Drive mode shifts too early as you said. Remember that even while using the Sport mode you can use the paddles to shift gears and adjust the ride to your liking. Safe travels amigo!
