Am going to buy a 2014 CTX700 DCT in California tomorrow.
Haven't ridden a DCT bike before so am looking forward to that.
From all my research this is the best upgrade for me.

I'm going to check:
  • Will ask to leave it cold so I can see it start from cold
  • Will look for oil spills
  • Going to generally give it a look over and see how it feels on a test-ride

  1. How do you put it in neutral so I can start it on it's kickstand?
  2. Anything in particular to check with the DCT?
  3. Any other recommendations of things to be on the look out for specific for this bike/year?
Thanks in advance

It's in neutral on start, display on dash. You can't put it in gear on the side stand.

Look at the rubber (not mistreatment or this bike just age), 2014 should have changed tires even if there is no mileage at all, the fork seals may be shot look for cracks, check hoses and any rubber that can age (especially if exposed to weather).

Look to see how 'clear' the oil is.

My 2014 (bought last year) needed tires and seals. Everything else was happy at 1800 Miles.

Current mileage? Any service/repair records & ownership history? Neglected maintenance items such as worn out chain & sprockets may affect normal performance. Oil & filter(s) change may be needed ASAP? (Honda Owners Manual has vital info.)
Advisable to have independent, knowledgeable, in-person assistance for inspection, if necessary. Good luck!
[With DCT; forget the manual clutch & shifter...it is automatic or paddle shift. Your choice.]

Thanks Revski, checked your suggestions and was happy with it and am now a happy owner! The suspension is worse than my Honda Rebel 250 but am looking through the threads to find solutions. Appreciate your post though.

Thanks 350, used some of these and ended up buying it. Have bought the Owners Manual because I'd like to go through the fluids and the chain needs tightening. Only issue I've noticed so far is that the parking brake doesn't engage but am hopeful that will be a quick fix. Thanks for your post.
