My 2014 DCT model has begun to rattle/tap as I accelerate from a stop - sometimes it will happen as I go from 1->2 as and continue to accelerate, as well. It sounds like it's coming from the front left of the engine, but of course it's always hard to tell while riding. As engine speed increases, the tapping goes away. Nothing sounds weird at idle or when revving in neutral.

Could this be a chain issue? Anything else I should check out? 18k miles, nothing ever serviced but oil and tires...

Get your rpm's up a bit before changing gears. The engine sounds like it is lugging. This is normal. Take it to about 2500 to 3000 and you should not notice anything. When slowing down then accelerating if you are much under 2500 it will slso do it. This engine works best over 2500 or thereabouts.

If you have put 18k miles on it, and this is a new happening, it's probably time for that valve adjustment.
