Everybody knows that a good motorcycle helmet shell must protect the rider’s head from severe injuries in case of a crash by dispersing the energy of impact over a larger surface area without cracking or breaking. Since most modern helmets use the Styrofoam as an energy-absorbing mid-layer as well as soft inner liners and padding for comfort, it is the shell that became the main focus of an article.
