Loving my Comie topcase

I needed a lockable topcase to store my helmet and jacket, as well as carrying produce from my fruit and veggie stand stops. I settled on the Comie 48L unit and I'm happy with it so far. Now, I don't claim it to be as rugged as a Shad or Givi. but I'm impressed at how sturdy it is along with the large mounting plate. I also liked the silver color which kind of matches the bike, and I liked the price. ($53)

I added some pics, one showing how easily the mounting plate attaches to the Mutazu luggage rack. The case attaches and detaches very easily. I don't plan on carrying any 50 lb bags of sand, so I think it will work great.

If you're looking for an inexpensive light duty topcase, this is worth considering.

If it works well and suits your purposes, no other assessment needed. Looks good by the way...

That looks nice!! I swore I was never going to do this, so letís just say Iím asking for a *ahem* friend How much does the mounting plate hang off the back of your luggage rack? I saw in the reviews some said you could put two helmets in others say you canít. What do you think prof?

I just measured it Brad, and the mounting plate overhangs the rear of the luggage rack by 1 inch. It's centered pretty well. I installed it as far forward as I could, leaving space to remove the seat. I've read mixed reviews of those "W" mounting brackets also. They seem to work well on my luggage rack, but we'll see. Really impressed with the design of that large and rigid mounting plate.

I don't believe that two full face helmets will fit in there, at least ones that will fit my big head. It says 48L, but it's not that much bigger in overall dimensions from the 35L Givi I looked at, which only holds one full face helmet. Anyway, no passengers for me. I'm pushing the weight capacity by myself.

Thank you sir.... The one inch overhang still lets me get my (.....I mean..... my friends) bike in the trailer when we travel. Is the trunk easy to take on and off the rack?

It's easy, but not as quick as the Givi monolock. It's held in place by a hand-tightened bolt on the inside of the trunk. Just unscrew it and you can slide it out of the slot in the front of the mounting plate. You can see the knob on the opened pic I posted. I only do day trips, so I probably won't remove it until I put it in winter storage.

I got the same case with the dark reflectors. It works well, looks good and was dirt cheap. The only complaint I have is that they got some of the white paint on mine on the inside of the lid.

I ordered one Prof..... Iím wondering if I might need a brake light/tail light added to the box. Do you think your lights are visible enough especially to big trucks?

Thanks again,

Brad

Brad, I'm hoping that red plastic will be reflective enough, but lighting would always be better. It doesn't come with a light kit as an accessory, so you'd have to engineer, drill, and mount anything you'd add. Good luck with it.

If you're going to mount it on that crotch rocket, you may need to mount a flat luggage rack first.
