Fuel cap storage when refueling

Its been awhile since this has been discussed so I've decided to post in a new thread for our newer members. When ever refueling, the fuel door indention is designed to hold the fuel cap and key in place.

The Japanese are an inventive bunch. Would never have thought of that.

Mind blown if it were actually designed for that, but is there any information that says this? Owners manual or sales blurb?

Happens to fit there ok, but designed for it...

LOL, oddly enough I figured out that was a convenient place to put the cap the very first time I fueled up my bike. Knowing the Japanese engineering mentality, it would not surprise me if it was designed that way.
